Help send Team Canada's Blind Sailing Team CANADA 1 to Portugal, 4 - 10 October 2026, to represent Canada in the 2026 World Sailing Inclusion Championships!! This is a Blind Sailing World Championship that presently includes 12 visually impaired sailing teams from 9 different countries. Equally exciting, this event will also be closely monitored by the Paralympic Committee to determine whether blind sailing - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER - should be considered for inclusion at the 2032 Paralympic Games to be held in Brisbane, Australia
Please help Team Canada 1 be a part of that!! Your donation will not only help Team Canada 1 get to a world championship in Portugal. It will also raise global awareness of the incredible abilities of blind athletes everywhere, and help to promote the inclusion of blind sailing at the highest level - at the Paralympic Games.
To make this campaign a reality, we need your support. We have budgeted to pay for training, flights, food, accommodation, uniforms, and event fees for Team Canada 1.

Chris Jonas - Helm (Blind Sailor)
Chris has competed in 4 previous Blind Sailing World Championships, winning a BRONZE medal in 2017 and becoming a world champion GOLD medal winner in 2019. He was also President of Blind Sailing Canada for more than 10 years, helping to grow the sport of blind sailing.
Brian Arthur - Mainsail (Blind Sailor)
Brian has competed in 4 previous Blind Sailing World Championships, winning SILVER medals in both 2017 and 2019. He also spent many years on the Blind Sailing Canada board.
Theo Weber - Tactician (Sighted)
Theo is a very experienced racer, having competed in numerous major regattas over the years, including Shark Worlds and the Lake Ontario 300. Theo is also the Blind Sailing Canada Fleet Manager and races with the charity's blind racers every week against sighted crews from National Yacht Club. Under Theo's tutelage, Blind Sailing Canada has won innumerable Commodore's Cups at NYC.
Gary Butler (Jib Trimmer) - (Sighted)
Gary has won many medals, including multiple GOLD medals, at Blind Sailing World Championships over the past 30 years. His experience will be an invaluable asset for Team CANADA 1 in Portugal this October.
This event is an elite regatta for the blind sailing community in Canada and around the world. Please help support Team CANADA 1 as we endeavor to once again achieve a podium finish against some of the world's most talented blind sailing teams. Please help us to represent Canada with pride and distinction. WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU.
