Annie is a 19-year-old ILCA 6 (laser radial) sailor. She has been a member of the RCYC since 2015 and grew up learning how to race at their junior club program. She also has spent every summer sailing with her parents on their boat throughout her childhood and currently! She started sailing ILCA 6s when she was 14 and has been racing them ever since. In ILCA 6’s, she was on the Ontario Sailing Team from 2019-2023 and has been a Canadian Sailing Development Squad member since 2023. During her time as a youth, she placed 10th at her first Open Youth World Championships, and she completed 3 ISAF Youth Worlds, 2 of which she placed in the top 12, marking the best result since 2009 at that event. She competed at the Canada Summer Games in 2022, winning a bronze medal, and also received the Bill Burke Memorial Youth Sailor of the Year Award for 2021 and 2022!
She recently competed in the Under 21 Worlds in Viana Do Castelo, Portugal, where she scored 15/80, recording the best result in Canada’s history at that event! Annie is currently attending Queen’s University, starting her second year. She is looking forward to advancing her sailing career by doing more training with international groups and competing in the senior fleet at regattas such as Princess Sofia Regatta, Senior Worlds and Europeans, and her last Under 21’s in 2025. Her long-term goals include continuing to represent Canada at more world events and campaigning for the 2028 Olympics!
