South Muskoka Wind Athletes Fundraising Program
South Muskoka Sailing Club/ School (SMSC) has a 50+ year history of introducing youth to sailing in Muskoka and advancing their skills through our race program. Graduates of our race program have become certified sailing instructors of the school and many have gone on to compete at provincial, national and world championships.
The SMSC racing program is building momentum in recent years after the pandemic challenged our programming. Thanks to the generosity of some of our members and reinvestment of student program fees, we are making great progress in updating our equipment. We have purchased a new racing coach boat and trailer and have acquired three new 420 advanced racing boats. This top-notch equipment supports the racing aspirations of our senior advanced sailors. To complete the racing program rebuild, we need to invest further in our younger sailors. We are upgrading the Optimist fleet's rigging and need to invest to replace our obsolete Pico sailboats to the modern RS Zest dinghy.
