The Road to Garda 2027
My goal for the 2027 WASZP World Championships on Lake Garda, Italy, is simple: I want to win. The 2026 season was a major breakthrough in my sailing. After finishing 6th overall and 2nd U21 at the 2026 World Championships, I went on to win the Canadian Championships, North American Championships, and Americas Championships. At the Americas, I was able to beat the current World No. 1. These results showed me that I have what it takes to compete at the very front of the international fleet, and now I want to take the next step.
The road to Garda starts this fall with the WASZP All Stars in Cádiz, followed by the North American racing circuit and training blocks throughout the 2027 season. Each event is another opportunity to develop my speed, racecraft, and consistency against the best sailors in the class.
My Story
I started sailing at five years old after my mom signed me up for a summer sailing camp. By eight or nine, I was competing, and sailing quickly became much more than a hobby.
I grew up sailing in Bermuda before moving to Canada at 15. I initially focused on the 29er, finishing 2nd at the Canadian Championships and winning gold at the 2025 Canada Games. At the same time, I was discovering foiling through the Waszp and SailGP Inspire. I qualified for the SailGP Inspire Grand Finale in San Francisco in 2023 before fully committing to the Waszp in 2024.
I was drawn to the Waszp because of the speed, competition, and the opportunity to be part of what I believe is the future of sailing. But what keeps me in the class is the people. It is fiercely competitive on the water, while sailors are incredibly open and willing to help each other improve. And when the boat is fully foiling, everything goes quiet. There is a unique calm and focus that makes it an incredible boat to sail.
Representing Canada
Representing Canada means a huge amount to me. Canada is my country, and I am incredibly proud to race under the Canadian flag.
I currently sail out of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and am the Dinghy Captain for the Queen’s University Sailing Team. I also coach at RNSYS and work with WECANFOIL to introduce younger sailors to foiling. This summer, I had the opportunity to return to the Lake Ontario Optimist Team as an assistant coach at the US National Championships, where the team won the overall event.
I want to become a professional sailor, with long-term ambitions of competing in SailGP, the America’s Cup, and eventually representing Canada at the Olympic level if foiling dinghies become part of the program. At the same time, I want to help build the next generation of Canadian sailors and grow foiling in Canada.
